Wajdi Ahmad has over 25 years of experience comprising engineering design & management, teaching, research, and training experience in various areas of electrical engineering, He has held leading positions at premier international companies, and taught at several colleges and universities. He has also been heavily involved in the development of local and international training programs.


Wajdi obtained his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan, in Dec. 1992. He won an NIH fellowship for nuclear medicine research at University of Michigan hospitals. After completion of his fellowship he worked at few companies in the US, in the field of control, automation, and research & development. In Jan 2000, he moved to the UAE as a faculty of Electrical Engineering at University of Sharjah. In 2007, Wajdi joined GE Energy as Principal Engineer within the Energy Consulting group. He then moved to the T&D team in Dec 2009, as Technical Solutions Director for Smart Grid, covering Middle East and Africa, where he has been leading all activities pertaining to business development, solution architecture design & selling, and though leadership activities for smart grid in MEA region. Wajdi is well-published, and has performed as keynote speaker and panelist at premier international conferences and forums on smart grid.
